The previously digital-only release compilation CD called “Tambura Rasa Beats” had initially really just been intended for fun and to take the sound of Tambura Rasa in a bit of a new direction.
It happened that two of the mixes on the compilation (“Cinnabar Mix” and “Gypsy Love Mix”) both got released on the infamous European electro-lounge compilation Cafe Del Mar. The Mausim Mix was used as a yoga track for Eoin Finn’s super popular yoga DVD series. Then there’s some reggae-dub exploration with the “Tambura Pana Mix”, and the list goes on…
And now, the CD got nominated as the best World Recording at the Western Canadian Music Awards 2010. Something that was initially intended to be a fun exploration and just a side Tambura Rasa project ended up getting lots of recognition… And surely it’s been supported by the enormously energetic, fun and consistently awesome shows Tambura Rasa has been delivering all over Canada, especially this summer..
